Instructor Profiles



Kellie Brown
graduated from St. John's University with a BS in Business Management/Marketing and a MA in Sociology. Upon joining Intellectual Pursuits, she was involved in mentoring programs such as Big Brother, Big Sister, and Teruko Productions. Kellie also offered private tutoring services to various individuals that needed assistance while pursuing her degrees in college. With a passion for educating and seeing students succeed, she developed the idea of starting a nonprofit organization geared toward helping the city's youth accomplish goals they only dream of.  Kellie brings with her over 7 years of tutoring and mentoring experience.

 

 

Julie Woodlin is a retired Mathematics instructor. She enjoyed working for the School District of Philadelphia for twenty-six years in various schools across the district. She currently teaches Mathematics at The Community College of Philadelphia and works in the School District of Philadelphia’s Office of Teacher Affairs.

 

 

 
Dana Henry is a Philadelphia-based writer/editor whose work has appeared in City Paper and Grid Magazine. She has coached writing to college students and professionals and has several years experience tutoring math to middle and high school students. She holds a BA in English Literature with a concentration in creative nonfiction writing from the University of North Carolina.

 

Baochan Tran graduated from University of California, San Diego with a BA in psychology and is currently pursuing her MS in psychology at Drexel University.  Prior to joining Intellectual Pursuit, she was a tutor under the No Child Left Behind act and has several years of tutoring experience working as an in-class tutor for the San Diego School District and the Philadelphia School District.

 

 

 

Nneka Kirkland has a Master of Education degree from Arcadia University with a concentration in Mathematics Education (Secondary) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Mathematics. She has several years of experience as a mathematics tutor/instructor and is currently a substitute teacher for various charter schools in Philadelphia.
